The curriculum offer at Kinsale is based on individualised, bespoke curriculum pathways, based on the strengths and areas of need for each student. The Welsh Areas of Learning are embedded into each student’s curriculum, enabling development of skills across a range of areas
Our ‘golden thread’ through all of these areas is personal development and enrichment, delivered through life skills and community access experiences, to equip students with the skills needed to be successful in adult life.
The curriculum is delivered thematically, enabling students to make meaningful connections between the different subject areas. Each student has an individualised timetable, incorporating 1:1 lessons, and small group work, as well as individual sessions in areas such as life skills, horticulture, creative arts, and food technology.
Regular community access provides students with opportunities to practice key life skills, including Literacy and Numeracy skills, learnt in the classroom, in functional, real-life environments.
Accreditation is offered to all students at a level suitable to their learning strengths and needs.
Curriculum subject areas are underpinned by sensory input, communication skills, and personal and social development. These areas are embedded throughout the school day.
Academic performance during the preceding school year, including any public examinations, is available on request. Please contact the headteacher for information: philippa.whipp@optionsautism.co.uk
